From here you have the most beautiful view of Hohenzollern Castle – postcard motifs guaranteed. The Zeller Horn (913 meters high) is part of the Albtrauf, the north-west facing steep drop of the Swabian Jura.

Raichberg Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

The tower was built in 1928 together with the Nägelehaus on the highest peak of the Raichberg in full concrete construction. It has withstood the weather at these altitudes to this day. Fire pits and children's play equipment were set up in front of the tower. The forest meadow is only sparsely populated with trees – mainly pines and beeches – which means that both sun and shade can be sought.

Hohenzollerngraben

Highlight • Gorge

The Hohenzollern Graben is a geological fault line that stretches from southwest Germany to Austria. It was created by tensions in the Earth's crust that led to shifts millions of years ago. The rift is particularly striking along the Swabian Alb, where it clearly shapes the landscape. Rock layers are exposed here that would otherwise remain hidden. The area is of great interest to geologists because it provides deeper insights into the development of Central Europe.

Hangender Stein Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Hangende Stein is located directly on the Albtrauf and offers a very beautiful view of the Schamental and towards Jungingen. The long-distance hiking trail Albsteig leads directly past this geological peculiarity. The Alb is crumbling here in slow motion and at some point the Hangende Stein will break off.

To the Trauffelsen with a magnificent view of Burg Hohenzollern, over Hechingen, Boll and, with good visibility, even further, one reaches from the Raichbergturm. To the left one reaches the Zellerhorn, to the right one reaches the Hangenden Stein via a very varied section.

Always the same, always the same motifs. every time My hard drive is full of pictures of the Zollerntrauf, the Hanging Stein, the Hohenzollerngraben, the Zeller Horn and all the beeches and roots along the way. A conditioned reflex that is followed. There is no other way. The landscape is so beautiful up here. An impression that does not weaken …

Actually it should only be a small lap today because it should be raining at 1 p.m. But somehow that kept shifting and in the end I stayed completely dry except for a few drops. That's why it got a little wider. The discovery of the day was the Emma rock. Below the Albtrauf with a small sea of rocks. …

After a wonderful holy Silent Night, the Christmas fairy tale continued. Santa gave me very practical earmuffs that I could use right away. First steeply up to the Maria Zell pilgrimage church, then hiked up the mountain to the Raidberg in the slipstream. The weather kept what the weather app promised. Sun :)
The views at the top of the …

The sun came out from Ofterdingen.
Always the Hohenzollern in view from the Maria Zell car park to the Zeller Horn.
Then along the Albtrauf to the Trauffelsen.
From here steeply downhill back to the parking lot above Boll.

A very beautiful but challenging route. It shouldn't have rained, otherwise it's too slippery. It's best to wear shoes that go over your ankles to avoid twisting.
