Wooden Bridge Over the Vils

Highlight • Bridge

On the hiking trail between Tannheim and the Vilsalpsee there is a wooden bridge that looks particularly enchanted in the snowy winter forest at dusk

December 19, 2025,Wanderung zum abendlichen Christkindlmarkt am Vilsalpsee
Last workday before Christmas vacation. What to do after work? Relax. I drove to Tannheim to relax and then walked into the twilight to Lake Vilsalpsee and its Christmas market. I'd been there last Sunday at lunchtime, but I really wanted to experience the market in the evening atmosphere, when all the lights were on and reflected in the lake. …

There on foot - back by bus.

A wonderful place for a Christmas market on the Vilsalpsee with a mountain panorama.

Today we went to the Tannheimer Valley to the Christmas market at Vilsalpsee. Thanks @AllgäuWolperdinger and @Allgäu-Wiesele for the reminder 😉.

The small but lovely Christmas market is definitely worth a visit. The stalls sell culinary delicacies and beautiful goods. There is also quiet (!) music in the background.

My first winter walk in the new home base: from Tannheim to Vilsalpsee. I'm really looking forward to winter in the Tannheimer Valley!

Family trip to the Vilsalpsee.
And by the way, the path along the shore is not closed at the moment, so the path to the waterfall is open 😉

December 30, 2024,Tour Tannheim zum Visalpsee
Easy winter hike from Tannheim to Visalpsee and back. Perfect weather and firn snow are just perfect for this lovely little hike. With mulled wine and Stollen by the lake in the bright sun on the frozen lake. It couldn't be more beautiful. There is even an electric car charging station. Maximum parking time is 4 hours. Unfortunately, for combustion …

Before we leave, we hike up to Vilsalpsee again.
The hot air balloons are rising again in Tannheim. The festival lasts until January 26th.
The Vilsalpsee now has a 17 cm thick layer of ice. Nevertheless, the edges and tributaries are still partly open🤔
We say goodbye to the beautiful Tannheimer Valley and are back home after a three-hour drive.
