Pendennis Castle and Headland

Highlight • Castle

Pendennis Headland affords breathtaking views across Falmouth Harbour and along the Cornish coastline. If you are lucky, you might spot dolphins off the coastline here. The imposing Pendennis Castle dominates the headland. Built in the 1540s, the castle was one of many new defenses along coastline to guard against a potential attack from Spain, France, and the Pope in response to Henry VIII’s controversial decision to break from catholicism.
