Wallenstein's Camp Experience Trail – Communication Station

Highlight • Trail

Wallenstein himself and Gustav Adolf spoke several languages, including German. But it must have been a veritable jumble of languages at that time.

Hainberg Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Hainberg nature reserve is located on the Rednitz in the area of the towns of Oberasbach and Stein (district of Fürth) and a small part of the city of Nuremberg. The nature reserve, which is part of the Sandachse Franken nature conservation project, has existed since March 1, 1995 and is around 213 hectares in size. Its area was previously used as a training area for the US Army and the Bundeswehr's 270th Transport Battalion stationed in Nuremberg. 195 hectares of the area are therefore managed by the DBU Naturerbe as a natural heritage area.

Little Bridge over the Bibert

Highlight • Bridge

The Bibert is a river in Middle Franconia, a good 42 km long, which flows from the left into the Rednitz near the Weikershof district of the independent city of Fürth.

The Bibert rises at an altitude of about 444 m above sea level southwest of the Schmalnbühl district, which belongs to the municipality of Flachslanden, on the Franconian Heights in the Franconian Keuper-Lias region.

It flows through the Rangau and crosses the municipal areas of Rügland and Dietenhofen. The Haselbach flows into the Bibert near Münchzell. Schwaighausen lies south of the confluence with the Egelsbach and Weihersmühlbach.

The river flows past Großhabersdorf and Vincenzenbronn in the south. East of the Ammerndorf district of Bubenmühle, the Bibert forms the border between Ammerndorf and Roßtal. The Bibert touches the Zirndorf districts of Weinzierlein, Wintersdorf and Leichendorfermühle to the north and then crosses Leichendorf and Zirndorf.

The last section of the Bibert, about 1.9 kilometers, forms the border between the towns of Zirndorf and Oberasbach. The Bibert finally flows into the Rednitz from the left at an altitude of 289.5 m above sea level opposite Weikershof, a district of the city of Fürth.

Like most western tributaries of the Rednitz, the Bibert has a low gradient and low discharge as well as sand structures in the bank area and in the riverbed.

October 15, 2022,🚶‍♀️ Rundweg um Wallensteins Lager 🚍🌲📚🌳🚉
🚶‍♀️ Today I planned the circular route around Wallenstein's camp.

To Unterweihersbuch by train and bus then continue on foot.
A bit fuzzy at first, but thanks to the real, almost consistently good signage, I quickly found the right way.

Wallenstein's camp. That had been on our wish list for ages. Today was the day. So we got out of bed at 6 because Udo wanted to watch his club at 1 p.m. and the tour was over 20 km long.
As summer is probably already over, we put on our rain gear and headed over to Unterweihersbuch, where the …

A very nice circular hiking trail around and between the towns of Stein, Oberasbach, Zirndorf and Unterasbach. The route initially goes a bit over hill and dale, so you should be able to walk well and put on good hiking shoes. 😁 The landscape of the Nürnberger Land and the Hainberg nature reserve is really beautiful and sometimes enchanting. ☝🏻 …

Well-designed adventure trail in Wallenstein's camp. Route not liked from the second half, street and new development areas.

GPX track and marking on site are not always the same.

Especially: Hainberg, Zirndorf center ...
