I remembered the sign:

Bernburg->Barby: pure nature

That says almost everything. Just before Calbe, the (separate) cycle path ends and you follow roads, farm tracks, etc. It's not a problem, there's nobody here anyway.

I think in between: The end of the Saale is coming soon; and also the end of the world.
