It always follows fixed paths and is therefore an easy hike. The path always leads along the water. Instead of going back to the parking lot via the dam, we tested the road and ended up on the dog route. Dogs are not allowed on the Aabachtalsperre route. water protection area .
There are 2 parking spaces at the dam.

A small circuit around the reservoir. Just a good jogging track but not for hiking. Be careful, it's very busy with cyclists at weekends. No dogs allowed. Well, there won't be a repeat. The best time of year is the end of October when autumn has taken the leaves off the trees, then you have a better view of the …

Unfortunately, the tour around the dam only leads over paved paths. Great for bikes... unfortunately quite monotonous for hiking 😕

From the parking lot we went through the spa park. Then I crossed a federal road and was directly at the dam. The dam has enough benches to enjoy. The circular route is 9km and paved, making it ideal for joggers, cyclists and inline skaters. There are few views as the dam is overgrown. I walked back to the car …

Start around 6 p.m. - weather was very pleasant, not so hot. Unfortunately, you only go on asphalt. Went clockwise, the first half of the route was a bit boring, I found the way back nicer because of the vegetation.

Today my long-cherished goal, the hike around the Aabachstausee in the Sauerland near Bad Wünneberg with my hiking friend, was put into practice in glorious sunshine.
The hiking trails around the lake are all paved and very well signposted. The other hiking trails in the Aabach Valley are also very well marked. There is no gastronomy on the lake itself, …
