Here you walk along the Green Belt. The green strip runs along the former inner German border and transforms the former death strip into a nature experience.

September 8, 2024,P16 Dietzenröder Stein
Based on a suggestion from Komoot, the Dietzenröder Stein 🪨 we hiked the P16 today.
A beautiful hiking trail through Eichsfeld Switzerland, great scenery and views.
We stopped at the Alte Schmiede and had a delicious beef roulade with Thuringian dumplings and red cabbage. 😋

Today, matching the Day of German Unity, we were on my favorite premium path / P16 Asbach-Sickenberg in the Meißner Kaufunger Forest Nature Park on the former inner-German border 👣🐾

On this round you will find several fantastic vantage points, rocks, beautiful forest paths, the castle ruins of Altenstein and a piece of history on the old patrol path.

For the 2024 hiking year, I was still missing a North Hessian premium trail and so I chose the 13.5 km long P16, which runs along the Green Belt between Hesse and Thuringia.

From the "Alter Steinbruch" hiking car park on county road 117, the P16 led through Asbach-Sickenberg in the best autumn hiking weather, actually two Hessian villages that …

Beautiful sunny weather, and I was out and about. It was just as well that the P16 mostly leads through forested areas. Wide paths at the beginning and end, with beautiful, narrow trails in between – just what hikers like. Of course, you have to climb mountains here too, but the view makes up for the effort. The "Nase" – …

In perfect hiking weather, spring greeted us yesterday in Asbach-Sickenberg, on the beautiful but challenging P16. Right from the start, a delicate scent of wild violets filled the air, which even I, as an allergy sufferer, could detect, for which I'm very grateful 😆😊🤧 Further on, beautiful wood anemones and primroses adorned our path 🥰
The challenging climb was quickly …

For me the path with the greatest view ever🤩 unfortunately I lay on my face because I was too fast and looked around too much🤣😂 but went off lightly 🙏 could keep walking… so always watch out for the roots and stones on the path and Lift your feet while hiking🤣🤣

Today there was the birthday hike for Silke and it was wonderful. It should be a premium route.
On its mostly path-filled route, the P16 repeatedly leads past steep rocky edges with captivating views and is for the most part already behind the Hesse border in Eichsfeld, Thuringia, so it runs mainly in the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park.
The area is …

Today I was on the premium trail P 16 Asbach-Sickenberg. We started from the Alter Steinbruch hiking car park. The path leads over very natural paths, often as slope or mountain paths. There are beautiful views from the Dietzenröder Stein, the Vatteröder Stein and the Rachelsberg. We then pass the Altenstein ruins. Before Asbach, the path leads in the valley …
