Tanneplatt Viewpoint – View of the Rückersberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

The rest area is equipped with covered benches and a table. However, there are better views of the Hessian bowling game from the path on the edge of the Soisberg forest. The Rückersberg in particular is clearly visible here.

View of the Hessisches Kegelspiel

Highlight • Viewpoint

From the path that runs along the edge of the forest on the Soisberg, there are always views of the pointed volcanic cones of the skittles game. The Stallberg and Appelberg, the highest mountains after Soisberg, are particularly visible. An information board here also explains the geography and mnemonics for learning the names of the mountains.

March 21, 2025,EXTRATOUR Soisberg (Rhön)
While passing through, I stopped off home, packed up my dog, and once again took this beautiful panoramic tour. The newly added extra tour is truly wonderful and well signposted.

This new extra tour will be officially opened on October 3, 23. All hiking enthusiasts are cordially invited to go on a hike together. It starts at 2:00 p.m. in Soislieden at the cemetery parking lot.

A successful new extra tour with lots of beautiful panoramic views and the highlight of course is the 111-step climb to the Soisberg tower, …

The premium hiking trail “Extratour Soisberg” was opened a week ago. Entry into the circular route is possible from all participating communities: in Eiterfeld-Ufhausen at the Holzgasse car park, in Hohenroda-Soislieden at the cemetery and in Schenklengsfeld-Wehrshausen at the Steinwachsruh car park (Kreuzbergstrasse). The highlight of the Soisberg circuit is the 111-step climb to the Soisberg tower, newly built in …

With this tour I say goodbye to Waldhessen. There was another surprise: a new extra tour on the Soisberg. This enriches and complements the beautiful extra tours in the Rhön. The route was probably not completely signposted, at least at one point we strayed from the official route. We are happy about this tour because the Soisberg with its tower …

Clear head. Round without a tower and a somewhat modest view. But it did me good.

Showing Translation

We deviated slightly from the original tour and skipped the tower because of fog.

Some time ago I wrote down the Soisberg Tower on my 'wish list', and today the opportunity had come. It offers a fantastic 360 degree all-round view. Unfortunately, the visibility was not optimal today, but the vastness of the area is still very impressive.
