Not far from Altensteig, at the entrance to Zinsbachtal, is the historic “Kohlsägemühle”. The mill wheel still turns here today - even if it now drives a turbine, the electricity from which then sets the saw in motion.
First mentioned in the Altensteiger Forestry Book in 1614, the historic farmers' saw is operated by forest farmers from the surrounding districts of Altensteig. The water wheel system demonstrates how a water-powered sawmill was used to process tree trunks.
