Kirchberg Castle in Immenstaad on Lake Constance was a fortified farmstead of the Counts of Kirchberg in the Middle Ages. It later became the property of the Cistercian monastery of Salem and served as a secondary residence for the abbots. After it became the property of the Margrave of Baden in 1802, it was used for wine-growing. During the Second World War, it served as accommodation for departments of the aircraft manufacturer Dornier and for international diplomats. Today, the buildings house condominiums. Even in winter it's a nice tour, over the Wilhelmshöhe through wine and apple orchards to Immenstaad and wonderfully back at the lake. Was great!
