Romanesque Church of San Martino di Bleggio (12th Century)

The Romanesque church of San Martino di Brema has been the subject of archaeological excavations which have provided certain data on medieval Romagnano. the original high medieval building with a single nave was completed shortly after its construction with a second nave attached to the first on the north side.
The excavations also allowed the identification of a significant cemetery nucleus around the church with two groups of burials dating back to the 7th-9th and 10th-12th centuries respectively.
The sporadic materials collected such as ceramic fragments and personal ornaments reveal a more ancient use of the site from the Middle or Recent Bronze Age to the Iron Age up to the Roman age (between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD).
