Petworth Deer Park

Highlight • Forest

Petworth Deer Park is a stunning country parkland that boasts ancient oak trees, scenic ponds, stunning architecture and, of course, a magnificent herd of fallow deer that has roamed the land for half a century. Hailed as one of the finest surviving and unspoilt examples of an English landscape, the parkland was designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century.

All Hallows Church, Tillington

Highlight • Historical Site

Beautifully situated in the South Downs National Park, Tillington is a lovely little village with many historic buildings. In fact, a third of the buildings in the parish are Grade-II listed. The All Hallows Church, with its beguiling Scots crown tower is of particular note and has been the subject of paintings by both Turner and Constable. At night, when floodlit, it is a marvellous sight.

There is much to interest walkers here, with the nearby Petworth Deer Park a rewarding ramble, as well as various wildlife-rich copses and commons in the surrounding countryside.
