There wasn't enough wind today. That's why we didn't see any paragliders.

Edingen Water Tower (1908) - Edingen/Neckarhausen 🚴‍♂️

Coming from Heidelberg-Wieblingen to Edingen, you'll notice one of the municipality's most imposing buildings – the Edingen Water Tower. The 42-meter-high tower, located on "Ergelweg" within Heidelberg's municipal boundaries, has become a landmark thanks to its prominent location and striking silhouette. In 1908, this reservoir was built by the "Neckargruppe" water supply association on a massive, rounded stone base to supply fresh water to Wieblingen, Friedrichsfeld, Edingen, Grenzhof, and Neckarhausen. Although the water tower is no longer in use as such, it has been preserved as an architectural symbol of the infrastructural progress of the time and as a landmark on the lower Neckar River. The Edingen Water Tower is now a listed building and can be visited on special occasions. 🚴‍♂️

Neckarhausen Castle - Edingen/Neckarhausen🚴‍♂️

The present castle has its origins in the old Thurn and Taxis post office, which existed in Neckarhausen since at least 1634, and probably even since 1614. In 1699, the post office was dissolved, and Johann Georg von Susmann (1694 to 1775), who made a career at the Electoral Palatinate court, built a befitting manor house on the site of the old post office before 1747. In 1777, Baron Franz Albert von Oberndorff acquired the Susmann estate. Oberndorff commissioned further renovations in 1824/25, which gave the castle its neoclassical appearance. In a further renovation before 1850, the detached manor house was connected to the two side buildings by terraces.
The castle was sold to the then independent municipality of Neckarhausen in 1960 and completely renovated by the municipality of Edingen-Neckarhausen in 1980. The castle itself houses parts of the municipal administration as well as various institutions and clubs. Numerous cultural events take place in the special ambiance of the former dining room; even today, the festive hall is used for council meetings. To the west, the English-style castle park adjoins. 🚴‍♂️
