Kleiner Feldberg Roman Fort

Highlight • Historical Site

The Limes ran right through the Taunus more than 2,000 years ago. Countless watchtowers and forts still bear witness to this today. Some are well reconstructed and preserved, others only have the foundations. At the Kleiner Feldberg fort there are still remains of the wall, so you can get a good idea of the extent. Incidentally, this example is the highest Roman fort on the entire Limes.

Weilquell Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Beautiful trail with partial crisp root passages and larger stones. But great to drive.

Brunhildis Rock (Großer Feldberg)

Highlight • Natural Monument

The meeting point is on the summit plateau. A little away from the road, you can enjoy the wide view over the Hintertaunus from here. When the visibility is good, you can see as far as the Westerwald and the Vogelsberg.

Großer Feldberg Summit

Highlight • Summit

Regardless of the season, our large Feldberg always has something to offer: in summer this region is the purest hiking and cycling paradise, in winter it is the highest
Ascent of the Taunus numerous tobogganers and winter hikers.
In good weather there are great views in all directions up there! It's best to stop in the restaurant for refreshment, they have great dishes there, and you have to allow for a little waiting time at peak times.
In a pinch there is still a kiosk / snack outside where you can get passable sausage, etc. :-)
Parking spaces and even public transport available.
Great Feldberg again and again with pleasure!

Forest restaurant Fuchstanz

Highlight • Restaurant

With this highlight I mean the better of the two restaurants on the Fuchstanz: "Fuchstanz - das Waldgasthaus". There are, for example, very tasty tarte flambées, as well as decent salads. The price-performance ratio is okay for me. Payment is made in cash. The restaurant also runs a kiosk with a beer garden opposite the edge of the forest. There is, among other things, pea soup with sausages and it is THE biker meeting point in the Taunus. From the large crossroads directly at the Fuchstanz, paths lead to the Altkönig, Sandplacken, to the “big curve” and up to the Feldberg and down to Falkenstein and Königstein. A large overview map is located to the left of the kiosk.

Attention: Mondays and Tuesdays are closed!

Former Iron Ore Quarry at Glaskopf

Highlight • Structure

Idyllic place - ideal for a rest - table and benches are available 👌😉
Here, at the former quarry (brown iron ore), a natural forest meadow is to be created in the next few years. Together with the adjacent forest area that has been taken out of forest management and the high stone wall, a valuable biotope is to be created. Among other things, the eagle owl is to be given an ideal environment. Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaskopf?oldformat=true

Again two small, narrow bridges, which you should better cross by pushing.

What do you do after a delicious Sunday breakfast and thick fog 🌫️ and drizzle? Off to Feldberg. Due to the long drought, top underground. Great fun climbing to the summit. About the Fence Trail back to Hasenmühle.
