Saint-Étienne-d'Issensac Bridge

Built in the Middle Ages, the Saint Etienne-d'Issensac bridge spans the Hérault near the former priory of the same name. Originally, it allowed the passage of pilgrims to Saint Guilhem, a stopover on the way to Saint Jacques de Compostela. It was built in the 14th century on the back of a donkey and has retained three of the five original arches. This stone bridge may have replaced an old wooden work of art.
