View of Lac Blanc

Highlight • Viewpoint

The lake region is one of the most beautiful in the Vosges. It is enough to admire the photos of the Lac Blanc to notice it. Walking through the Hautes Chaumes and seeing the lakes looming below is simply magnificent.

Rocky Trail to Lac Blanc

Highlight • Trail

Due to a car breakdown I had to “emergency park” here. The destination was the Col de la Schlucht. Since I had to wait a long time for the towing service, I asked about the Lac Blanc area near Orbey. And lo and behold, a beautiful area. The ring went around Lake Lac Blanc (to the right of the parking lot). Through shady forests along the bank and up to the crest of the peak. At the top you were rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view from above of the lake, Vosges and the Rhine plain. I was totally fascinated by hiking above the lake with its rustic forests and rocky paths.
Conclusion:
Although the car breakdown was really annoying, the involuntary stop didn't happen. Very worthwhile. An absolutely recommended route.
You should be sure-footed, not afraid of heights and have good shoes, partly in alpine terrain. But it's doable if you have good feet.
At the end you can treat yourself to a cold beer or a juice spritzer in the brasserie at the foot of Lac Blanc.
Simply a great circular route.
Take your time and enjoy.

By straying slightly from the path, you will reach the bank from where you will have plenty of time to observe Lac Blanc.

“Short but full of sensations”.
Today on the road for two to Lac Blanc and Hautes-Chaumes: a radical contrast to yesterday's 100% urban outing.
In no hurry, without a really defined plan, we stopped for a coffee in Kaysersberg and wandered around the village a little before hitting the road towards the mountain.
The Lac Blanc car park was overflowing …

A Wednesday without a holiday in May - the paths at Lac Blanc are well-trodden and empty!

Starting at the shore of Lac Blanc at approximately 1,000 m, a steep, rocky path leads to Rocher Hans / Hans' Rock with the Madonna (not accessible).

A detour to the "Observatoire Belmot" and
a glimpse of Lac Noir.

The tour is alpine. It is easier to go around the lake counterclockwise. The descent is steep and goes over rocks. Sturdy shoes are an advantage.
The plateau offers a fantastic panoramic view.
There are two benches to sit on.
I've done this round in the dead of winter before, it was very adventurous.

Hiking in Lac Blanc...☺️😚🤔
Yes, you can do it, and it even feels good.
On our way to a completely overcrowded gorge, we happened upon the Lac Blanc Bike Park. At the gorge, we immediately escaped the crowds, and at the bike park, we decided against a descent. That would have been only 50% fun at best, and we …
