Cévennes Greenway

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

This segment is actually part of the Green Line of the Cévennes, a greenway built on the old track of the Departmental Railway (CFD). It connects the town of Florac to Sainte-Cécile d'Andorge and highlights the natural wealth of the region. There is a series of old railway bridges full of charm.

Saint-Julien-d’Arpaon is a small town on the southern edge of the Cévennes. It lies in the Mimente Valley, a tributary of the Tarn. The Château de Saint-Julien-d'Arpaon is located in the municipality, a ruin picturesquely located on the hillside.

The suitable hiking tour can be found in the flyer from the Office de tourisme Gorges du Tarn (“La Randonnèe”). We hiked it and found it wonderful (komoot.de/tour/40880280).

Very nice owners, clean rooms and even a jacuzzi. Huge parc for our donkeys too!

Maybe the most amazing part of the whole trail. The trail is next to the river the whole time. The ascension of the trail and the river are not the same so sometimes you're as close as 10 meters and sometimes you're over 50 meters above the river.
And then those old train tunnels, what a feeling to walk through those.
The trail is a n easy walk here so you can really enjoy the surroundings (just don't fall :)).
