Heiligenrode Monastery Mill and Fish Ladder

Highlight • Monument

Heiligenrode is a district of the municipality Stuhr and is located on the northern edge of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park. Heiligenrode is located at Klosterbach. In the center are the monastery mill, the monastery pond and the mill pond. The figures in the mill pond seem from a distance as real, but when you come closer you can see that there are objects of art that can be bubbled through the water through the mouth and nose. Nice to look at!

A total of five windmills from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved in Bremen to this day. One of them is the mill in the Wallanlagen, the old Bremen city fortifications, whose walls were razed in 1802 and transformed into a park. Although it burned down twice in the 19th century, it was always rebuilt. Flour was still ground here until 1947, today there is a café in the mill. Here you can take a coffee break after a stroll through the city or a walk through the adjacent ramparts. The mill is also a popular photo spot: depending on the season, autumnal trees or colorful flower meadows await you here (source: bremen.de/tourismus/sehenswuerdigkeit/die-muehle-am-wall)

Bremen Market Square

Highlight • Historical Site

Bremen's market square is not only one of the oldest public squares in the city, but also one of the most beautiful. Surrounded by many impressive buildings, you shouldn't miss this gem in the heart of Bremen when visiting the city.

On weekends, it's usually packed – like an anthill.

In the northern area of the Harpstedter forest is this more than 170 meters long wooden bridge. It leads across the marshy Delmetal.
Alone the name "Ocean Bridge" is remarkable, especially since the path leads a few hundred meters west to the tiny village "Klein Amerka" :)

Here you can watch the paddlers carrying their boats from one side to the other. You can also linger on the big rocks and listen to the sound of the water. Nice here!

June 13, 2023,4 Tage Brückenradweg - Tag 2 - Von Vechta nach Bremen
Day 2 goes to Bremen.
It's back to pure nature. The Ocean Bridge is the highlight of the tour.
Some parts of the tour go over small forest paths, but are still easy to drive on.

From Vechta we continued today on the bridge cycle path, which is well signposted, past rape and corn fields as far as the eye can see. The ponds in front of Goldenstedt and the place itself were beautiful. We continued to the ocean bridge. This place invites you to linger. Then the path leads us through the forest for a …

Bridge cycle path, in several stages.
Another one on my list from this year.

Here then times the start in Vechta. After starting the route from Osna at the beginning of the year (I can't remember whether this year or last), but then losing the signage somewhere, now I'm doing it again. This time starting in Vechta.

Today's destination is the Hanseatic city of Bremen. We passed through Vechta and the small village on the side of the road. Today it was relatively flat until a few kilometers before the end, when we had to push again (picture 16). At the end, Roland, the town musicians, etc. were waiting. And finally, we "ransacked" the Bremen Schlachte again.😛🙃😊🔝

2nd and last day of the small Lower Saxony tour 2024. The weather was actually even better than yesterday, as it was sunnier and there was a tailwind almost all the time. That made up for the lower temperature.
Otherwise, there was a lot of scenery to see at the beginning. The unique Ocean Bridge and the Reckum Stone burial …
