At an altitude of around 620 meters, the Alteburg is one of the highest mountains in the Soonwald. On top of the wooded summit stands since 1893, the 20-meter high …

Forest path to/from Ellerspring

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

If you would like to walk on resilient forest paths instead of gravel forest roads, you can follow this path from the Ellerspring hiking car park. Some passages are overgrown, so wear long trousers.

Soonwaldsteig at Ellerspring

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

One of the IMHO most beautiful sections of the Soonwaldsteig leads through a beautiful single trail through a sparse mixed forest. Due to the root system and some Wacken for cyclists not so suitable.

The Soonwaldsteig leads you along dense, tall spruce trees. If you follow the path and walk across the wild meadow, you literally wander through a green corridor.

Albert Oak

Highlight • Natural Monument

The free-standing oak was dedicated to Erich Albert (1922-1988), who was the head of the forestry office from 1961 to 1987 and was then able to enjoy his retirement for just 8 months.

May 3, 2023,Soonwaldsteig Tag 3 🏕️🐾👣👍🏼
Today a shorter stage, for which we are really grateful 😅💪🏻.
Tour itself was wonderful, completely off the main paths, only forest and meadow paths.... great 👍🏻.
Unfortunately, as expected, nothing happened at Komoot this morning😒.
Now let's enjoy the sun for now 🌞 😎👣🐾.

Accompany me on the third stage of my hike on the #Soonwaldsteig.

The film about my hike is available here:

After the tough stage of the previous day, I'm looking forward to today's slightly easier route.

The Altenburg trekking camp is really great! It's hard to imagine how nice it would be here if you were allowed to stay there in summer 😉
The night in the tent, on the other hand, was "more like that, okay" and, above all, not very relaxing. At night it poured again a lot, but even if it didn't rain, …
