Taxi! Statue by J. Seward Johnson Jr.

Highlight • Structure

This unusual bronze statue titled "Taxi!" by J. Seward Johnson Jr. depicts a frustrated businessman eternally attempting to hail a cab on John Carpenter Street near Blackfriars station in London since 2014. Originally created in 1983 and previously displayed in New York with full color painting, the sculpture now stands in London with only its white shirt retaining color, while the once-realistic figure continues his endless wait for a ride that will never come.

The Thames Path is a National Trail that runs from the Cotswolds to Woolwich in London. It's 185 miles (298 km) long if you fancy running the whole thing.

Through most of central London you have the option of running the path on either side of the river, allowing you to create some nice loops of the city.

This segment follows the path on the north bank along the Victoria Embankment between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

The roadblocks make it easy to walk here. It's a good starting point for St. James's Park.

Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben)

Highlight • Monument

Big Ben, or to give it its proper name, the Elizabeth Tower, is probably the most famous and iconic clock in the world, along with being the most photographed. It is also one of the most prominent cultural and parliamentary symbols of the United Kingdom. Completed in 1859, during Queen Victoria’s reign, it is 96 metres high. It’s said that its Big Ben nickname was derived from Sir Benjamin Hall, an elected Member of Parliament of the time; he was otherwise known as ‘Big Ben’.

Cleopatra's Needle

Highlight • Historical Site

The sphinxes guarding the needle are actually facing the wrong way, Queen Victoria liked them better this way.
