The Schönenbach settlement in the Bregenzerwald
Schönenbach is considered the most beautiful settlement in the Bregenzerwald.
Picturesque impressions in Schönenbach
Whether in summer or winter, on foot, by mountain bike or on cross-country skis: you're happy to head to Schönenbach. The Vorsäß settlement is situated in a very picturesque location on a wide, around 1,000 meter high valley floor. Wooden huts dominate the picture. Farmers and dairymen spend the early summer and autumn here while their cows graze the alpine pastures. People also go to Schönenbach because they have particularly good cheese knöpfle here. These are eaten in a harmonious atmosphere in the Egender hunting inn.

In winter with snow, it is recommended to take snowshoes with you. The track in winter is absolutely quiet. Great landscape!

Vorarlberg children's village, mountain pasture Schönenbach (opening: summer 2020)
On the 50th anniversary of the death of founder Hugo Kleinbrod, the Vorarlberg Children's Village was able to rebuild the Schönenbach Children's Village House thanks to two major sponsors and "Licht ins Dunkel".
As early as 1946, chaplain Hugo Kleinbrod started holiday campaigns for war orphans and starving children in Schönenbach, thereby laying the foundation for the Vorarlberg Children's Village. At that time there was no separate accommodation, thanks to the Schönenbach farmers it was possible to sleep in the hay of the alpine huts. However, the great demand soon made alternative accommodation necessary. In 1950, they moved into their own building, which offered space for 50 children. Since then, the Vorarlberg Children's Village has organized a Schönenbach Children's Summer every year. Thousands of children have spent unforgettable holiday weeks here over the decades.
