Monument to the Bardenas Shepherd

Highlight • Monument

The monument to the bardenero shepherd is a work of the Navarrese Antonio Loperena. It is also the northern entrance to the beautiful Bárdenas Reales desert. This sculpture was made in memory of the transhumant livestock.

Castildetierra Hill

Highlight • Natural Monument

Mount Castildetierra, in Blanca Baja, is a unique geological formation in Navarre, unique and of particular interest for its landscape and educational value.

It's a fairy chimney. It is a large natural column of soft rock, generally of sedimentary origin (clay or shale and marl), whose top is formed by a more resistant sandstone rock that protects this column from erosion. These types of formations can range from the height of a man to that of a ten story building. The variety of colors is due to the different minerals that make it up. The dominant erosion forces in the Cabezo de Castildetierra are the force of the rains and the wind in the region (the north wind). Strong canyons are observed in the lowest part of the structure. To avoid further deterioration, one must enjoy this work of nature a few meters away.

Desertus Bikus // CP1

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Bardenas Reales are a semi-desert area with an area of 42,000 ha located in Spain, southeast of Navarre, between Tudela and Carcastillo. This nature reserve has particular vegetation as well as impressive rock formations due to erosion, a recurring phenomenon here, of which the Castil de tierra is the most emblematic manifestation.

Bardenas Reales Natural Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

It is not in vain that this landscape was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Exciting rock formations, a lunar landscape, gorges, plateaus and breathtaking views await you in the semi-desert. It's no surprise that many major movies have been filmed here, including "Game of Thrones" and "James Bond." Although the area is protected, it is well developed for visitors. Of course, the best way to explore the landscape here is on a mountain bike.

Please note the opening hours of the natural park: from 8 in the morning until one hour before sunset.
