New Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The bridge separates the old town from the newer part of the city, El Mercadillo, which emerged after the Spanish conquest. The abyss of more than 80 meters is spanned by the Puente Nuevo, which dates from the end of the 18th century. From the Plaza María Auxiliadora, there is an unpaved path that descends to the viewpoint, from where you can get the famous view of Ronda with the Puente Nuevo.

View from Ronda's city walls

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great views over the beautiful landscapes and surroundings of Ronda.
But actually this Highlight is about the: The walls of the city of Ronda.
One of the reasons Ronda is so important in the history of Andalusia is directly related to how secure the city was, a position that allowed Ronda to develop and be independent. The city walls combined with the gorge and the Guadalevín River made Ronda immune to attack.

Wikipedia:
Ronda is characterized by its Moorish old town, "La Ciudad," situated on a steeply sloping rocky plateau. The old town is separated from the younger part of the city, El Mercadillo, by a nearly 100-meter-deep gorge called the Tajo de Ronda, formed by the Guadalevín River.

What a fantastic city! The views of the surrounding countryside were amazing, and the bridge was incredible! The trip was definitely worth it. Parking was free. We skipped the Arab baths today.

You have to do it at least once if you are in the area. Yes, and the bridge is really beautiful, the way it spans the mountain. Well, but there are also a lot of tourists...

Great hike! However one part, down to the gorge for THE famous picture, the normal access is under construction and blocked - this was early march 2024. However, you can still access some of the fantastic view points from mid-way levels into the gorge towards the bridge, then just turn around same way for a couple 100 m and continue …
@Jitka 🚵‍♀️🥾⛷️🤿 thanks for the tip👌, it was beautiful 🤩
