Ponte Vella (Roman Bridge of Ourense)

Highlight • Bridge

The Roman bridge of Ourense known as Ponte Vella or Puente Mayor, over the Miño river, was built in the 1st century AD. C. within a branch of Via XVIII or Via Nova.
According to tradition, it dates from the time of Trajan, however its construction characteristics bring it closer to the time of Augustus. Of that first bridge, only a few padded ashlars from the bases remain, as mute witnesses of the past.

Sobreira Medieval Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Bridge with a single arch from the 13th or 14th centuries over the Barbantiño river, which forms the boundary between the Councils of Vilamarín and San Cristovo de Cea and which once separated the jurisdictions of the Count of Ribadavia and the monastery of Oseira. The parapet is beautiful and curious, as it is finished at both ends with scrolls.
