Borków Dam

Highlight • Structure

The reservoir in Borków was destroyed during the last major flood in 2001. The flood banks were breached in four places. The water flooded many farms. Despite objections from residents of the Morawica and Chęciny communes, the provincial authorities decided last year to rebuild the reservoir. The arguments of the residents of the Daleszyce commune prevailed, as they were painfully affected by the lack of a reservoir and... profits from tourist traffic. There was only one condition - Borków was to be rebuilt in such a way that it would constitute real flood protection and would not succumb to another major flood. It is being built within the boundaries of a former reservoir with an area of 40 hectares.
