The country house on Oosterheide was restored in 2006 and, together with the associated farm, forms a national monument.

In the eighteenth century, Oosterheide was a military training ground. More than 30,000 men trained here under the leadership of stadtholder Willem V. The hills on the estate were constructed at that time. They are the remains of three hills, bullet traps, that were thrown up for the exercises in 1769.
