Church of S. Giacomo Vecchia (at the cemetery of Livo)

The ancient church, located beyond the village near the cemetery and documented for the first time in 1297, became a parish church in 1446. The renovation of the nave with arched transverse arches painted in black and white bands, rectangular presbytery and semicircular apse of the oldest building and the elegant bell tower. It was consecrated in August 1514 by Monsignor Galeazzo de Baldis, titular bishop of Tiberias and suffragan in the city and diocese of Como. A refined pronaos, on which vaults with frescoes are painted Stories of Genesis of the second half of the sixteenth century, embellishes the gabled façade, crowned by blind arches in terracotta.
Inside, numerous devotional frescoes dating back to the first half of the sixteenth century, except for some fragments of the late fifteenth century, depict the Madonna, the Christ, God the Father and the saints of the folk tradition. They were commissioned by devotees of Livo, whose names are still partly read at the base of some of them.
