Nethermoor Lake

When the park was transformed from an opencast mining site, 4 main Lakes were created with water from the Moss Brook (fresh water stream). It is estimated that 2 Million Gallons of water per day for 30 days filled the lakes.

Nethermoor Lake is at least 20m deep in some parts.

Rother Valley Country Park is composed of four lakes, nature reserves and areas of parkland. The park was built on land that was open cast for coal, with the main excavation sites filled by the artificial lakes. These days, it is a popular place to visit for recreation and relaxation. There are plenty of gravel trails to explore. It can get busy at times, however, so be mindful of others.
