Old Water Mill

Highlight • Monument

In Sweden, the use of hydroelectric power is very important and has been so since earlier times, as this ancient relic bears witness to. Unfortunately, this old watermill is left to decay 😪

Trunna Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Trunna Church originally comes from Grangesberg outside of Ludvika and was moved to Orsa in the 80s. The ground on which the church stood was not safe due to the mine in Grangesberg. The then owners of the land where the Trunna Church now stands decided to gradually move the church and this is how the beautiful red church ended up in Orsa. How it got there is a story in itself. Every now and then old couples turn up who want to see the church where they got married; in Grangesberg or in Orsa (!)

Trunna Church has large, beautiful windows and high ceilings. It is beautifully decorated with bright colors. The church holds 200 people.

Mora-Nisse's House

Highlight • Historical Site

Next to the finish arch of the Vasaloppet is this traditional red house from 1850. It is named after Nils 'Mora-Nisse' Karlsson, the most famous and successful competitor in the history of the cross-country ski tour. In 1943, the Swede won on his debut. In total he participated ten times, of which he won nine times.
Today, an exhibition about the Vasaloppet has been set up in the cottage. For current opening hours, see: vasaloppetssamlarklubb.se/mora-nisses-hus
