The oldest parts of the nave and choir date from around 1200-1250, and it also consists of three late Gothic additions: the tower, porch, and sacristy, which were completed around 1517. The church is distinctly Romanesque, with beautiful wall ornamentation and curved cornices. The altarpiece is from the late Renaissance, bearing the painted date 1627.

The pulpit is a Renaissance oak pulpit with a painted date of 1591.

Borre Church is one of Denmark's first bicycle-friendly street churches: Here, cyclists can take a break, fill their water bottles, inflate their bicycle tires, and enjoy the peace and quiet during the church's opening hours.
