Ehrbachklamm Gorge

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

The Erbachklamm is simply a great hiking trail for young and old.

After a great autumn hike in 2017, the gorge has its special charm in spring. Highly Recommended.

A short, steep ascent is rewarded by a magnificent view over the forests and valleys. Currently (season: autumn) the color play of the forest reminds of an Indian Summer! Fantastically beautiful!

A great nature with beautiful little waterfalls along the trail.

View of Ehrenburg Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

The view from the valley up to the strategically located castle complex once again highlights the position of the castle lords at that time. In medieval times, building such an imposing castle was not only due to the need for a secure home, but also a visible political symbol, a demonstration of power.

The source of Brodenbach lies in the north of the Boppard district Buchholz at about 372 m above sea level. NN. From there it flows, without crossing any other villages, mainly in a westerly direction through a narrow valley. The narrowest section is known as the "Thunder Hole," a cascade group that has only survived in parts since a blast in the 1960s for a forestry trail. The Brodenbach flows on both sides only short watercourses. It flows in the north of the village Brodenbach to 95 m above sea level. NN in the Mosel.
