What to expect on Lake Tahoe Vista Point – Bridge & Waterfall loop from Van Sickle Bi-State Park
The trail begins on relatively easy dirt paths, but don't let that fool you; about ten minutes in, the climb becomes steeper and more persistent. You'll wind through open forest and past impressive boulder outcroppings, eventually reaching a charming waterfall about 1.1 to 1.2 miles from the trailhead, now featuring a new bridge for easy access. Beyond the waterfall, the route continues its ascent, opening up to truly spectacular panoramic views of the entire Lake Tahoe basin, including Mount Tallac and the South Lake Tahoe casinos. Be prepared for sections with little shade, especially on a sunny day, and know that this is a multi-use trail shared with cyclists and equestrians.
Planning your visit
Van Sickle Bi-State Park is one of the most accessible parks in the Tahoe Basin, conveniently located within walking distance of the Stateline, Nevada casinos. This makes parking and access straightforward for many visitors. While the trail is generally open, remember that parts of the route can be exposed, so carry plenty of water, especially during warmer months. The park is open year-round, but the best time to visit for wildflowers and comfortable temperatures is typically spring through early fall, even into October for late blooms.
