After a few kilometers, the route ends at Punta Spigolo, the last emerged portion of the Cona Island, beyond which the Isola dei Gabbiani extends. From this position you can see the Idrovia Veneta canal and on the right, about a hundred meters away, the Isonzo that flows into the sea. You return along the path backwards for about 4 km, until you descend from the initial embankment.

Isola della Cona is the main point of interest of the Foce dell'Isonzo Nature Reserve, a reserve of extremely high environmental value which extends over 2,406 hectares. On the Isola della Cona, between the main course of the river and the secondary branch of the Quarantia, numerous environmental restoration interventions have been carried out and the main infrastructures dedicated to fruition are concentrated: the Visitor Centre, the guesthouse, the huts for photography and the stables for horses. From here there are two main routes, along which observation points are located: the shorter circular path (40 minutes) allows you to reach the Marinetta Observatory and via a circular path around the restorations (temporary wetlands) report to the Visitor Center; the path of the United World, longer and more rewarding, instead leads to the meadows of Biancospino, to Mezza Cona and to the mouth of the Isonzo, near Punta Spigolo (journey time around 3 hours round trip). The reserve is frequented by an avifauna that counts hundreds of species; moreover, there are specimens of gray goose and Camargue horses in the wild, chosen for their predisposition to life in marshes and suitable for carrying out vegetation control.
