Vertine Village

Highlight • Settlement

The village of Vertine is a tiny fortified town in the Chianti Valley. Walking through its narrow streets is like taking a journey into the glorious past of this area: the stone walls, entrance arches, and towers are a living testament to this.

Radda in Chianti

Highlight • Settlement

A walk through the narrow, winding streets and numerous ornate vaulted passages transports you back to bygone medieval times, as if Radda were still the capital of the “Lega del Chianti”.

In Radda in Chianti, the "Gallo Nero" (Black Rooster) represents the pulsating heart of local identity and is inextricably linked to the production of Chianti Classico DOCG wine, the famous sporting cycling tour, and the artistic installation of the same name that welcomes visitors to the village.

Villa Vistarenni

Highlight • Historical Site

Villa Vistarenni is an elegant residence located in the town of the same name in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. It rises within a property of over 150 hectares, in the heart of the Chianti Classico, and is characterized by a staircase in two sections of considerable scenographic impact.

It is a sixteenth-century style building, even if the current appearance was given to it between 1914 and 1919 on a project by the architect Ludovico Fortini. It was originally known as Fisterinne and with this name we find it mentioned for the first time in a charter of the Badia a Coltibuono dating back to 1033.

In the 15th century Fisterinne was a village belonging to the Cecchini family of Panzano. In 1621 it became the property of Giannozzo da Cepparello and then passed in the following century to the Pianigiani family, originally from Radda in Chianti. In that period it was transformed from a castle into a Renaissance villa and equipped with a courtyard, vegetable garden, oil mill and cellar. In 1852 it became the property of Ferdinando Strozzi, senator of the kingdom of Italy since 1860. It has belonged to the Tognana family for several decades and has become a luxury resort, an evocative place for ceremonies and events.

It preserves stupendous historic cellars, among the oldest in Chianti, completely dug out of the rock, with terracotta cross vaults.
