A small path branches off from the hiking trail here, after a short descent you reach the bathing area with crystal clear water.

Entrance to Gorropu Canyon

Highlight • Canyon

The canyon cannot be reached directly by bike. We parked our bikes at the end of the side street, there may be gifted athletes who can ride their MTB the way to just before the gorge, but I only saw bikers pushing 😉
During our visit, the canyon was unfortunately flooded due to the persistent rain and not accessible, but the way there and the sight of the entrance were worth the effort.

Gorropu Gorge

Very impressive gorge. The entrance fee is 5 € but that's definitely worth it. Before the hike you get an instruction how to behave in the gorge and learn interesting things about nature

Sorgette Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

Not far from the entrance to the gorge, there's a constantly bubbling drinking water spring. Very helpful for the hike back!

Ponte S'Abba Arva

Not a particularly beautiful concrete bridge over the Flumineddu, but with a good view of the water and the surrounding mountain landscape.

Beginning of the hike not easy to find... small road on the right before a bend leaving Dorgali by viale Kennedy, follow "refuge Gorropu" then the hand-written signs "Tiscali, Gorrapu"... the route takes you takes you to the beginning of the gorges, count another 20 min minimum to discover them (paying in cash)

Really nice hike, easy and good for families too. A nice way to go to the Canyon Gorropu, which is quite spectacular. On the way back, when getting close to the starting point, we even walked a bit down the river and had a small swim.
Attention: The tour is only about 13-14 km long. GPS could not work in the canyon.
A 'must tour' when you are here. The gorge itself can be walked about 500 meters and is absolutely impressive. The bottom is only a few meters wide and the rock faces on the left and right are several 100 meters high.
The rest …

The largest canyon in Sardinia. Sensational and simply terrific. You find yourself in a completely different world and can't believe the wonderful places that nature has in store!

The way there with still summery temperatures a bit difficult but doable.

Today our driver took us to the small bar "la Barva" where our tour started and ended. We went along the river Rio Flumineddu into the spectacular gorge. There you pay €6 to enter, but it's worth it. Back at the starting point, a Biera Limona (shandy) and an espresso are recommended.
You can park all day in the car …

GPS tracking in the gorge is inherently inaccurate, so the distance is too long. The round trip, including the yellow-marked section of the gorge, is 14 km.

Showing Translation

There is a $5 fee to enter the gorge. The ascent of the gorge is only for those with really good sure-footedness and the courage to climb.

Spectacular tour with 500 m high cliffs in the gorge. One of the deepest gorges in Europe. The way to the entrance to the gorge was also quite exciting, with beautiful views and partly shady. Arrival and parking at the kiosk without problems. At the end there was a good cappuccino 👍
