This monument commemorates the Battle of Marston Moor that took place on July 2nd, 1644 between the Royalists and the Parliamentarians under Oliver Cromwell.
This was one of the deciding battles of the Civil war and over 4000 people on both sides lost their lives.

Church of the Epiphany, Tockwith

Highlight • Religious Site

The church was built between 1864 and 1866 in memory of Edward York of Wighill. It has an interesting cylindrical bell turret.
There are graves both in front and at the back of the church. It is still used today as the cemetery for Tockwith and the surrounding area.
The old vicarage, situated up a drive behind the church, is now a private house.
