Hard road ride. Very good fitness required. Mostly well-paved surfaces and easy to ride. The starting point of the route is right next to a parking lot.

View of the Forest of Bowland from Jeffrey Hill

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Forest of Bowland National Landscape covers 312 square miles of rural Lancashire and adjacent Yorkshire. From Hurst Green in the south to Wennington in the North, the Forest of Bowland is dotted with charming stone villages, some of which date as far back as pre-historic times.

It took me breath away when I saw the views here

View from Jeffrey Hill

Highlight • Viewpoint

A good test of fitness for the locals. If attacked from Ribchester it makes it one of the longest climbs in the area (although you do have to cross a road). The steepest side is from the north from Rock Brow and then up Forty Acre Lane (the initial 'ramp' on this peaks out at +25%, so take your lungs with you). The steep side is probably best avoided in icy conditions. If coming from the east you can also come up torturous Birdy Brow and join the climb half way along. Also, no shortage of views at the top.

Waddington Village

Highlight • Pub

With a babbling brook, manicured gardens and chocolate box cottages, Waddington is a lovely village in Lancashire. Its historic buildings house fascinating tales: Henry VI went into hiding in Waddington Hall for 12 months, before he was betrayed to the Yorkists in 1465. Today, you can explore the pretty village and enjoy a slice of cake at the bike-friendly cafe opposite the church.

Just near The Inn at Whitewell, great views, especially to the north towards the Dunsop Bridge and the Trough of Bowland.

Officially the village closest to the centre of the British Isles as certified by Ordnance Survey.
It's a pretty little village with a cafe and a pub. It's on the Ribble Valley Jubilee Trail and a good start point for several walks.

Trough of Bowland Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Trough of Bowland is a valley and high pass in the Forest of Bowland. The road runs from Dunsop Bridge at 123m up to the pass at 295m and then down to the junction near Abbeystead at 150m. It's a great ride in either direction and very picturesque.
