Christ Church, Henley-on-Thames

This United Reformed Church building was opened in 1908.

Designed by Hampden W. Pratt, it is an impressive brick structure with yellow stone dressings, gothic-style tracery, and flamboyant Art Nouveau glass — a clear statement of the Congregationalists’ importance in the town.

In 1995 a new building project was initiated to encompass the church and halls all within a covered concourse as well as adding modern halls and a small chapel.
This new community centre, called the Christ Church Centre, was opened at the church in 2000.

St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Medmenham

The first church at Medmenham was established about AD 650, possibly by Birinus, the 1st Bishop of Dorchester. This was replaced by the current building in 1160, under the patronage of Hugh II, Baron de Bolebec of Bucks. Baron Hugh also founded Medmenham Abbey at the same time.

The bulk of the church is 12th century, with the tower and chancel a product of the late 14th century. One interesting feature of the existing church structure is the north chapel, built as a chantry by Isobel de Bolebec II, Hugh's heiress. Isobel was the widow of Robert de Vere, the 3rd Earl of Oxford.

Higginson Park

The park is the principal open space in Marlow, a classic example of a traditional urban park.
It is located on the High Street and yet it also benefits from access to open countryside and a superb location on the River Thames.

Marlow is a vibrant Georgian market town situated within pretty scenery besides the River Thames. Its historic streets have many restaurants, cafes, pubs, shops, and places to stay. Famous residents have included T.S. Eliot, and Mary Shelley, who finished her Gothic masterpiece Frankenstein while living in the town. Marlow is also home to one of Britain’s most prestigious rowing clubs and has produced many Olympic rowers, including Sir Steve Redgrave, whose statue stands in Higginson Park.

Henley Bridge

Spanning the Thames, Henley Bridge dates back to the late 18th century. With five arches and made of stone, it's quite striking. Its age is impressive but it actually replaced a wooden predecessor and, before that, evidence shows another stone bridge was in its place, perhaps Roman. Nearby on the Berkshire bank is the Leander Club, one of the world's oldest rowing clubs.
