Centurion Way Sculptures

Highlight • Structure

You will notice some sculptures as you head in to Chichester...Centurion workers made from gas welding cylinders and old railway line fittings by David Kemp A 5.5 mile (9km) path that runs between Chichester, Lavant and West Dean following the old dismantled Chichester to Midhurst railway line, which closed in 1991.

Couple of bits at the bottom where run off ditches cut across the track are difficult (for me anyway) the rest (going up) I found a good but ‘doable’ challenge for a beginner/ intermediate rider.

View of The Trundle

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Trundle is an Iron Age hill fort on St Roche's Hill. It's an early Neolithic earthwork. Later, a chapel was built on the hill in the 14th century. This is a nice place to view it all from with a well-placed bench.

View of Sussex Countryside from Dew Pond

Highlight • Natural Monument

Scenic viewpoint with a bench next to a dew pond overlooking the Sussex countryside towards the east.

The construction of dew ponds began in the South Downs during the 11th century, when traditional water sources such as streams and wells were not readily available. They provide a vital source of water for grazing livestock, particularly during the summer months when streams and other water sources may dry up.
