North Wales Coast Path Promenade

Highlight • Viewpoint

A lovely stretch of traffic-free riding along the North Wales Coast. With waves crashing onto the beach on one side and colourful seafront promenades on the other, this is perfect riding. You'll find plenty of ice cream en route too.

Rhyl Harbour and Pont y Ddraig

Highlight • Bridge

The harbour is the nicest place in Rhyl, lovely for walks or to hire a bike and cycle. There is a bike hire shop next to the cafe if you haven't got a bike.
The new lifting bridge over Rhyl Harbour in North Wales, serves as an additional crossing for pedestrians and cyclists. Spanning the River Clwyd from Rhyl’s West Parade to a newly created public area on the Kinmel Bay side of the river, the elegantly opening lightweight bridge named “Pont y Ddraig” has already become an iconic landmark attracting visitors. Hundreds watched the two lightweight composite decks – or dragon wings – being lifted into place in early Summer.

Pensarn Beach

Highlight • Viewpoint

The unspoilt beach is a walker’s paradise. Part of the Welsh Coastal Path, Pensarn’s promenade provides beautiful views out to the Irish Sea, and a great surface for cyclists, too. Out at sea, there is plenty to do. Wind surfing, kayaking and canoeing are popular water sports at the beach.

Dogs are allowed on the beach throughout the year. There are great facilities near the beach including shops and toilets. A nearby car park provides excellent parking facilities.

Colwyn Bay has been a popular holiday destination since tourism began in the Victorian era. The sandy beach, which can be over-popular in summer, is a great place to sunbathe, play beach games and swim. There's also a promenade with plenty of ice cream shops and restaurants.

You can usually find a quieter stop if you cycle up the beach, further away from the town.
