King's Gardens Boating Pond

Highlight • Lake

King's Gardens are adjacent to Abbey Gardens and are popular with children largely for the model-boating pond. The gardens were opened in 1905, by the Mayor of Torquay.
These gardens, although perhaps not popular for people to necessarily to sit in, are a main attraction as they are some of the first landscaped areas seen as you drive towards the seafront area.
In the evenings they are lit up with coloured spotlights and the Bowls Pavilion has lights all around the exterior shape of the building, making the whole area look so much more attractive.

Fleet Mill Lane

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Unsurfaced lane with deep ruts in places and fist sized rocks. Struggled for grip on a Gravel Bike in the rain but would be fine on a MTB

At the heart of the English Riviera, Goodrington Sands is well known as a safe family holiday destination, with a gently sloping sandy beach, which is well managed every morning by tractor, tides permitting, to remove seaweed and stones washed up by the sea.

Goodrington Sands has all the normal facilities like beach huts, deck chairs, sunloungers and pedalo hire and also has beach manager supervision during the main season.

Goodrington Sands is also famous for the steam railway which runs adjacent to the sea, and can be boarded here at Goodrington Station for a journey along the picturesque South Devonshire coast line to Kingswear, where you can cross the River Dart by ferry over to Dartmouth.

Goodrington Sands also has a park with boating lake, nature reserve, go-karts and crazy golf and has a history dating back to the sixteenth century. There is also the old navel hospital from the Napoleonic war which is now a family friendly eatery pub which is part of the Brewer´s Fayre chain with plenty of outside seating taking in the breathtaking views of the bay.

View of Paignton Bay

Highlight • Viewpoint

With views over Paignton Bay, this is one of the few cycle friendly parts of the South West Coast Path.

Admire the red rock cliffs of this Lyme Bay and Torbay Special Conservation Area and sheltered sandy beaches that lie waiting to be explored.

Fairy Cove

Highlight • Beach

Fairy Cove is a pretty little beach to the South of Paignton Sands, just over the Harbour wall, which is popular with families. Composed of red sand and shingle with red sandstone cliffs at the back; at low tide the beach is separated from the sea by flat rocks with interesting rock pools to explore.
