Grisedale Tarn Waterfalls

Highlight (Segment) • Waterfall

Nice alternative to the other walks up to Helvellyn. Was there on a beautiful sunny day in June and didn't meet anyone else!

Dollywaggon Pike Summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

What a great summit. I've approached Dollywaggon Pike from both Grisedale Tarn and from Nethermost Pike/Helvellyn and I absolutely love the views from up here. One thing on my 'to hike' list is 'The Tongue' - an approach to the summit via the north east ridge.

Nethermost Pike

Highlight • Viewpoint

If you're visiting Nethermost Pike, chances are you're tagging it onto Helvellyn! It's a great addition to your hike. Views to the Scafell Range to the west are simply impeccable on a clear day. You also get a great vantage point to appreciate Striding Edge.

The inscription on the stone reads:

'THE FIRST AEROPLANE TO LAND ON A MOUNTAIN IN GREAT BRITAIN DID SO ON THIS SPOT ON DECEMBER 22ND 1926 JOHN LEEMING AND BERT HINKLER IN AN AVRO 585 GOSPORT LANDED HERE AND AFTER A SHORT STAY FLEW BACK TO WOODFORD'

Helvellyn Summit

Highlight • Summit

Up there with Britain’s best-loved mountains, Helvellyn is home to a horseshoe ridge of legendary quality. First comes Striding Edge, a knife-edge arête with a tantalisingly-good tightrope path edging along the crest, before bagging the summit and completing your high-level loop of Red Tarn via the rocky staircase of Swirral Edge.

Get height out of the valley quickly, rest then the gradient eases. Awesome view
