Shakespeare Cliff

The first attempt to dig a tunnel under the Channel to connect England and France was commenced here at Shakespeare Cliff in the late 1870s. The sea is its narrowest here at just 21 miles.
It has earned its name, Shakespeare Cliff, from being associated with King Lear. There are great views up here along the coastline and even across to France.
