Victoria Dock and Maritime Trail

Highlight • Historical Site

The Victoria Dock was constructed between 1833 and 1875 and was one of the largest enclosed docks in Scotland. Today, it is part of the 2-kilometer Maritime Trail with HMS Unicorn and the North Carr lightship permanently anchored in the marina. There is also a watersports center and the City Quay to explore.

HMS Unicorn

Highlight • Historical Site

The HMS Unicorn is literally a unique ship: It is the most completely original ship of that era in the entire world and being built in 1824 the third oldest in the world still afloat. Moreover, it is Scotland's only preserved warship.

You can visit the historic ship and explore all four decks and learn more about the life on board a 19th century Frigate. You can find more about prices and times right here: hmsunicorn.org.uk.

RRS Discovery

Highlight • Historical Site

Here you will find both the V&A museum and the RRS Discovery.

The V&A is a magnificent building that showcases the best of Scottish design, and the RRS Discovery is a ship that was built in 1901 for scientific purposes in the Polar regions. It went on its first expedition between 1901 and 1904 to Antarctica, and now stands in the Firth of Ray for visitors to enjoy its grandeur.

Riverside Walk, Dundee

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The Riverside Walk is an extension of the Dundee Maritime Trail and takes you from Discovery Point to the infamous Tay Rail Bridge, to Magdalen Green – a nice playpark – and passing Dundee Airport all the way to the Riverside Nature Park. It is paved and flat and a great stroll along Firth of Tay with stunning views. Keep your eyes peeled for McGonagall's Walk which is part of the Riverside Walk and shows you the poem "The Railway Bridge of the Silvery Tay" of William McGonagall from 1878.

Tay Rail Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

The iconic Tay Bridge, or Tay Rail Bridge, carries the railway over the Firth of Tay in Scotland.

This is the second version of the bridge, as the original collapsed in the late 19th century in a tragic accident during a violent storm.
