Gordon Highlanders Memorial Statue

The statue commemorates the Gordon Highlanders regiment, which once had a barracks at the castle gate overlooking the harbour. The site is now a tower block of flats, and the barracks was moved to the Bridge of Don area.

A great recreational place for people in Aberdeen, popular with swimmers, runners, and surfers. A good walking spot and the are plenty coffee vans to the south end.

Footdee Beach

This part of the beach seemed more shaded from the wind in the bay and people were swimming as there were less waves. There are lots of cool street vendors and truck along this section and some cafes and restaurants nearby too. There’s also free parking along the beach front and some public toilets.

Footdee (Fittie) Fishing Village

Highlight • Historical Site

The old fishing village of Foot Dee (know locally as Fittie) is a lovely picturesque area. With it's old squares in the middle of the little fishing houses, there are well decorated sheds, and each one is unique as the next. The area is pedestrianised, and easily accessed at the end of the beach. There is also a small playpark at the sea side of it.

The second largest granite fronted building in Europe, and currently home to the City Council. The college was once one of two colleges in Aberdeen, the other being Kings College at Aberdeen University.
