Beresford Gap Coastal Path

Highlight (Segment) • Beach

It's a great ride (and I have almost no sense of smell!). The path takes you most of the way from Whitstable around to Sandwich. Where you have to leave the path, the route is very well signposted (Viking Trail). There are also a few very short sections where you need to walk (past beach huts), but otherwise, you often have the path to yourself. There are cafes along the route, so you can usually find somewhere to stop every half hour or so. Additionally, there is a good train service along the coast if you don't feel like riding back!

It can be very windy so plan your route direction with the wind behind and fly along the seafront promenades. If you find yourself against the wind there are more sheltered paths to link up to joining back onto the residential roads and cycle paths.

Minnis Bay Beach and Coastal Path

Highlight • Beach

Take the Thanet Coastal Path along the seafront at Minnis Bay and take in the beach huts, white cliffs and holidaymakers. The concrete cycle path feels somewhat incongruent with the scenery and no doubt wouldn't be built now, but it does make for a good pedal along the beach.
