Celtic homestead at Dünsberg

Highlight • Historical Site

Information and Museum Education Center
The reconstruction of a Celtic farmstead on the Dünsberg, built in 2006, consists of a residential building (main building) and two outbuildings, which are modeled on storage and commercial buildings.
Access is through a reconstructed Keltentor, which gives a good insight into the construction of Celtic city walls.

The main building serves as an information and educational center, where the history, in particular about the life of the Celts on Dünsberg and the flora and fauna of the Dünsberg is informed.
The small building erected as a pile dwelling is a free reconstruction of a storage building excavated on the eastern spur of the Dünsberg. Such "four-post stores" belonged to the farms throughout the Celtic period. Among other things, the pile dwelling prevented pests from reaching the stocks stored here (eg grain).

The Celtic homestead is to give the visitors everything worth knowing in an overall presentation before entering the world of the Dünsberg, whereby the Celtic culture has a prominent position.

Lets go well as a beginner, after a few rainy days in places a bit muddy, but then still can drive well.

Dreiherrenstein Krofdorfer Forest

Highlight • Historical Site

In Krofdorfer forest (municipality Wettenberg), only a few hundred meters northwest of the forest house you will find the "Dreiherrenstein". It was set in 1669 on the border between the Landgravates of Hessen-Darmstadt and Hesse-Cassel. In the south, the Principality of Nassau-Weilburg was added. He got the name from the three men HD, HC and NW. In later years, additional landmarks were added as a result of territorial development. In 1806, the county Hesse-Darmstadt became the Grand Duchy of Hesse. Through the Peace of 1815 and the decisions of the Congress of Vienna, the Principality of Nassau-Weilburg went to the Kingdom of Prussia. The most recently established landmark No 241, KP GBF = Gleiberger Forst, GH KRB = Krumbach is still the legal limit today.
