Old Town of Lohr am Main

Highlight • Settlement

Lohr am Main is a charming town in the district of Main-Spessart. Many events and the fairy-tale old town with its sights make Lohr attractive for visitors and tourists. Lohr is located on the Main and is also well connected by a train station for travelers. Incidentally, Snow White is said to have been a true lohrer. Whether that's true, and many other interesting details about Lohr and life in the Spessart can be experienced in the Spessart Museum.

Hafenlohrtalstraße

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Lonely lane through the beautiful harbor loch. Ideal for racing cyclists, as there is very little traffic on the track. By the way, the ride is fun in both directions.

The beautifully located inn dates back to a kurmainzer hunting lodge from the 18th century and is located in the idyllic harbor loch. Specialties such as trout from our own breeding are waiting for the hungry guest.

Hafenlohrtal Scenic Road

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The Hafenlohr is a 26.5 km long (27.7 km including the Tiergartenbach) right tributary of the Main River in the districts of Aschaffenburg and Main-Spessart in the Bavarian Spessart region.

The Hafenlohr rises from two springs in the municipality of Rothenbuch. The longer and occasionally more water-rich branch is the Tiergartenbach, which often dries up on dry days. Officially, it is considered the upper course of the Hafenlohr main watercourse. The source, known as the Hafenlohr Spring, in the center of the village provides water almost year-round.

The Hafenlohr Spring is located at Rothenbuch Castle. It was encased in sandstone during the road widening of the St 2317. Its water flows northwest through the castle moat and, after about 100 meters, flows from the left bank into the bed of the Tiergartenbach, which flows from the Tiergartengrund on the northern edge of the village and is already 1.3 km[7] long. It doesn't provide water year-round, but at times it provides more than the perennial spring at the castle.

The spring at the castle was probably once a meeting place for hunters in the eastern Spessart, which is why construction of a hunting lodge began here in 1342. The spring water fed the castle moat and several surrounding trout lakes, which no longer exist.

Hafenlohrtal Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural

The Hafenlohrtal is a nature reserve in the Spessart. The valley begins at the feet of Weibersbrunn and ends in Windheim. It impresses with its typical landscape and its isolation from traffic and hustle and bustle. A real gem for racing cyclists. A few years ago, the Hafenlohr river was supposed to be converted into a reservoir. Fortunately, thanks to some nature conservation associations and citizens' initiatives, this was prevented.

Highlight • Climb

Nice, constant climb. Asphalt is largely in good condition. However, the road is quite well traveled by cars and motorcycles.
