The path back down to the valley is not recommended. It's too steep, with lots of rocks and roots, and is in poor condition. It would have been better to hike back to the mountain station (about two hours) and then take the cable car down to the valley. The distance would have been similar.

From the mountain station/Sonnenalm to the Lachenkopf, then on to the Jöchelspitze, past the Rothornspitze, Muttekopf to Bernhardseck, and then a steep 1180 m descent, with a detour to the waterfall and the valley station. Wonderful panorama of the Lechtal Alps. I think it's better to go up than down ;-). (Accumulated 820 m ascent and about 1500 m descent. …
