Beschert Glück Mine

Highlight • Historical Site

The treasure trove "Beschert Glück" was one of the most profitable mines around Freiberg and was operated from 1697 to 1899. Coming from Freiberg on the left side of the street you will find the Huthaus, Scheidebank and Maschinenhaus on the vast and now largely overgrown heap. The water for the machines was supplied via an artificial ditch - you can still see the florets at the end of the dump today. The old ore bunker is also located there. A small staircase leads further down and you can still see the hatches in the high wall today.

Konstantinteich

Highlight • Lake

The Konstantinteich is an artificial pond in Zug in the Ore Mountains. It is part of the Freiberg Revierwasserlaufanstalt. The pond was used in 1925 as a reservoir and compensation storage for the underground power plants located in the Konstantin and Drei-Brüder-Schacht (second underground power plant in the world). The dam is a ring-earth dam with a clay core seal and a tarras wall. Today it is used for the targeted distribution of raw water for the process water supply and the fishing industry. The Konstantinteich is located in the middle of a typical area of old mining with heaps and shafts. Source: Wikipedia

Freiberg Artificial Ditch System

Highlight • Structure

One of the most impressive engineering achievements is the artificial trench system, which was created between the 16th and 19th centuries to supply the mines with water. Large parts are still preserved today and continue to be used for water supply.

Brandsteig Pathway

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Nice foot and bike path that connects the Kuhberg in Brand-Erbisdorf with the Erzengler pond. The path is lined with trees and hedges and sometimes looks like a fairytale.

May 1, 2024,Tour de Mumm 2024 - Freiberg🚴🏻‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴
The local gym had once again invited us to go on a bike ride together. 31 participants followed this call for the smaller family tour. The organizers also ordered the best weather for a trip🌞😎.
We went through the city forest to Brand-Erbisdorf to the Erzengler dam. There was another really delicious buffet here👍. After circling the lake, we drove …

After two years of abstinence, the "Tour de Mumm" could finally take place again 😁. As usual, there were two tours to choose from: 80 km for the very fit and 30 km for the others 😉.
The tour guide was great again and the catering was great including the great location at the Erzengler!!
We are already looking forward …
